The Cardinal Tap

A Chance Worth Grabbing

For Steph and Jordan, ownership of The Cardinal Tap came about almost on a whim—but it felt right from the start. Steph had already been working at the beloved Main-Street bar and grill when word spread that it might go up for sale. “When the opportunity came that it could potentially be sold, we decided—why not grab it?” they recall. On November 1, 2024, the couple officially took the reins, determined to honor the tavern’s long-standing traditions while adding a few fresh twists of their own.

Growing With the Community

Since taking over, the new owners have felt “super cool” levels of support from regulars and first-timers alike. One of their biggest evolutions has been launching weekday lunches—Wednesday through Sunday—which has opened “an entire new gate of people” and turned lunchtime into a local highlight.

More Than a Bar & Grille

Walk in and you’ll find everything from “amazing burgers” and pizza to classic sodas, ice-cold beer, and a full lineup of spirits. Yet it’s their new avenue of food—home-cooked lunch specials—that truly sets them apart. Add in an ever-changing slate of live entertainment, and The Cardinal Tap has become a gathering place that feels equal parts hometown hang-out and lively event venue.

Hospitality at Heart

Steph sums up their customer promise in one simple wish: “I want everyone to always feel welcome.” That warmth starts in the kitchen, where the team still cooks “the exact same way” this landmark eatery has for the past 15 years—keeping tried-and-true recipes front and center to ensure consistent quality.

Balancing Business and Family

The greatest challenge? Time. Running a bustling establishment while raising a large family isn’t easy, but Steph and Jordan refuse to let the business overshadow what matters most. “We want our kids to never forget that they’re the most important—even if some days it feels like business is first.” Fortunately, the kids love pitching in, making family involvement the most rewarding part of ownership.

Giving Back, Looking Ahead

Community spirit runs deep at The Cardinal Tap. Whether it’s supplying entertainment and meals for the fire department’s poker run or quietly helping locals whenever possible, Steph and Jordan jump at chances to give back. And if you stop in any given week, you’ll likely see a new project under way—proof that big plans are always on tap.

Words of Wisdom

For would-be entrepreneurs, Steph offers straightforward advice: “Do not give up. It’s hard, but the support of the people around you will confirm why you’re trying so hard.”
